KICKAPOO KAMP for GIRLS is beginning its annual search to replenish our counseling staff. Established in 1925, Kickapoo is located ten miles south of Kerrville in the Texas Hill Country. Kickapoo has its own private lake for swimming and water related sports and stables about 30 horses for the riding program.
Kickapoo has three terms per summer. We hire counselors for any combination of the three terms, but some choose to work all three terms. The term dates for this summer are listed below. All counselors are required to arrive at camp by 11:00 a.m. on the first day of orientation unless special arrangements are made with the director.
Kickapoo enrolls a maximum of 100 girls between the ages of six and fifteen. Because we are a small camp, our staff of 25 counselors must be multifaceted in order to fit the need. They are responsible not only for cabins but also for classes and extra curricular activities. It is a 24 hour a day job and is as rewarding as the effort put into it. Two counselors are placed in each cabin with eight to twelve campers. Each counselor is responsible for teaching five classes per day six days a week. Time off is scheduled weekly to allow staff to relax, recuperate, and be ready to return to the job.
